How We Teach Words and Patterns
Our approach to vocabulary and pattern acquisition is through repetition and recycling during authentic interactions and meaningful tasks. Vocabulary is selected to help expose students to a range of languages such as nouns, verbs, adjectives, modal items, and more. We reuse high-frequency language during emergent authentic teacher-student interactions stimulated by the content/syllabus. We tailor our instructional language and procedures to promote higher levels of comprehension, retention, and transference between contexts and functions.
