2021 – Vision
I have a pencil, I have a paper pen partner.
Sorry, Hey guys, this is red here and today I just want to talk about vision.
You know when we start up our schools and we start up our businesses when we start, you know a new project in our lives.
We we kind of have this vision, you know someplace in the future where we want to be and we want to get to that place, you don't always know the direction you're going to take, but you know that you want to get there.
And one strategy I use is just not strategy at all.
It's just one means I have for painting that picture or drawing it out or scribbling it out is by using the piece of paper and a pencil.
wonderful thing is because you can write, you can erase, you can draw, you can doodle, you can do anything you want and you just never know what the final product is gonna be after sitting down with a blank piece of paper and the fact that it's empty just frees the mind for you to dump all your thoughts onto it and then gradually over, over years of planning over thinking about it about juggling about taking different directions.
You learn to, you know, clean things out, you learn your vision finds some clarity at least it has for me and I'm very grateful for that because you know if I don't learn to improve upon what I do every day, then then well life is never gonna get easier and that's one thing I really want is to get help things for me to get easier so that I can continue doing what I love and not continue doing.
You know, the things that make my life more difficult.
And so maybe when I first started my school, I had no idea what well I mean, I had an idea.
I had, I knew that I could start a school.
I knew that I had the skills and the abilities and I knew that I could teach any content I wanted.
But at the same time, I knew that I wanted to create my own content.
I wanted to teach how I wanted to teach what I wanted to teach to who I wanted to teach.
And and that isn't difficult.
You know, talking to parents is really hard when you don't have a vision.
And so over the course of the years, I've you know, I've made the content map and this is my content map for 2021 this year.
And right now I'm in this review session right here,
which means I get to sit back, I have a whole month to sit back and say, all right, what have I done this year so far? What can I improve upon? What do I want to remove from my program? What do I want to add to my program And uh and how can I paint a better picture or build a better mosaic or however,
whatever metaphor that I want to use or that's not a metaphor.
But anyways example and you know I also keep it written on pieces on text based too.
So one hand I can dream it up.
I can envision it with with characters.
So I know exactly where my characters are going, what kind of hardships are gonna have and a lot of them are based upon mine and my my sons and then I have it written down in text so that I can read it and when I read it I sort of have a different sort of ability to to link things together.
It's it's really weird but you know they say that a picture is worth 1000 words and that's so true.
But sometimes like a few words are worth you know our gold when when looking at in comprehending it a very like basic level like you know if say if I teach like I am at school and then it's just some simple words and then you like show a picture I am at school.
The brain can go in 1000 different directions when when you just want to focus in on some text like I am at school then it really narrows things down to like okay,
if you're at school, what do you need to focus on, what do you need? What what kind of picture do you want to paint with that in you know in your class, you know a roadmap is great but it doesn't always paint, it doesn't always illustrate what is happening when you're there in your roadmap.
And so my vision is that I know where I'm going each day and I can focus on, you know, the content I need each day and I can go right, I can go left and I know if I go right, I know I might have these issues to to these challenges to overcome.
And if I go the other way, I know that I might have other issues, but it's not about it's not about doing what's right wrong, it's about, you know, that Rubik's cube a figuring it out on the fly in the moment and the more planning I do before and the more planning I do after will allow for a better class and will allow my vision to have more success every day of my life in the classroom.
