2021 – Mazes and Clearings

Hello.
Who can read this Meadow pum pum.
This is amazing book.
I like using mazes with my students.
You know,
they trace their finger walking,
walking,
walking.
That is our duty me.
You know,
stuff like that.
Like I told you about,
you know,
using dinosaurs in my curriculum.
I actually don't teach that too much about dinosaurs because such big long words can't read them myself.
Anyways today I want to show you this maze and often,
you know,
mazes are a lot of fun to teach their kids.
You know,
they find lots of pictures,
they move their finger around,
they find the ins they find the outs,
they find,
you know,
little secret pictures that look like butterflies or Dragonflies.
You just,
you know,
they're fun to do and you know,
a picture is worth 1000 words,
but sometimes,
you know,
for me and my career right now,
you know,
I don't know whether or not I should go up or down or go straight like you know,
it's amazing.
It's really hard to get through.
And I'm always looking for,
you know,
some sort of clearing some sort of space open space that when I come into it's like,
alright,
this is the right size for me.
Not too big,
not too small if it's too big,
you know,
like I can't fill it up and I've got all this waste of space.
I don't need,
if it's too small then I can't really grow it in a way that that suits my needs.
So I'm always looking for the,
you know,
the right size that allows me to to to build whatever I need to build now.
I've never really moved out of my study room because I have enough space for me,
but I am looking to get out of it because you know,
my family is growing ever bigger,
you know,
just in size.
I'm not,
I'm not adding more kids to the family,
but you know,
so I need to find,
I need to think like how am I using digital space?
How am I using physical space?
How am I using space on the page?
Is like,
what kind of white space can I create in my life to allow me to put the things that I need and you know,
in over 10 years,
you know,
like you buy these books,
like 500 activities for the primary classroom,
great book,
lots of ideas well used,
but there's so many activities that I often get lost in here.
So it's like,
you know,
you have to just clear out some of those,
Some of those,
a lot of those ideas,
not just some of them,
a lot of those ideas just clear them out and say I don't need these in my life right now.
So you know,
I can't build something that has 500 ideas and you know,
when I first started teaching,
maybe these 500 ideas were great because well I didn't know who I was teaching,
what I was teaching and how I was teaching,
But you know,
you flip the switch after 20 years,
you have a very clear idea or you get a lot more clarity on who you're teaching,
how you're going to teach them and why you want to teach them the way that you're teaching.
You know,
that's that's what comes with,
you know,
the experience of doing the work and or getting lost in the maze and trying to find your way around the maze and doing the maze so many times that you can do it by heart,
you know,
you know,
it like the back of your hand.
So right now in my life,
I'm trying to,
like I said,
I'm cleaning up a lot,
I'm taking a lot out,
I'm putting some things back and I'm trying to find the amount of space and the right kind of place for me to grow and to develop what I would like to move into.
I don't know whether that's in Korea or in Canada Canada or somewhere else or even in the digital space because,
you know,
that's where things are going and I see so many things starting up online because we're locked in 2 to 2 smaller confinements because of covid.
And I don't,
you know,
I'm just looking at all the tools at my disposal and looking at the skills that I that I wield and say,
all right,
this is what I can do and this is what I'm gonna do and this is what I'm not gonna do.
And I'm gonna move forward with it.
Whatever,
wherever I go.
I'm not too sure.
I'm looking for that right,
clearing for me right now and I hope you find it too.
Good luck.
Talk to you later.
See you tomorrow.
Bye.
